Founded in April 2021, Cody Rescue Centre was created to support pregnant teens we encountered during our outreach efforts—girls who were lured into the city with false promises of jobs or education, only to face exploitation and life on the streets. These young women, often with nowhere to turn, found themselves in dire situations.
To meet their unique needs, we established a dedicated center where pregnant teens can find safety, shelter, and support. We provide comprehensive care including safe housing, medical support, and life skills to help both mother and child prepare for a better future.
With your support, we can continue to rescue, protect, and empower these vulnerable young mothers and their children. Together, we can change lives.
To nurture the healthy development of pregnant teenagers, young parents, and their children, with a vision to enhance lifelong positive outcomes for these young women and families.
Reality Vs Society
Many girls are outcast by their families because they no longer command a bride price. Faced with this, most choose abortion, while those who keep their babies are forced to live in the slums. Many girls die using unsafe abortion methods, which is why we created Cody Rescue Centre—to help and protect them. Poverty, HIV/AIDS, and instability in northern Uganda leave many children orphaned and vulnerable. At Cody Rescue Centre, we provide support to these girls and their children, addressing both their physical needs and spiritual well-being with the love of Christ.
Girls who find themselves in the slums or grow up in the slums are often exploited sexually from as young as 12 years old. From the age of 12 they become a potential target. Many are 'lured' to a life of prostitution with the 'reward' that they may be able to have somewhere to sleep and occasionally get something to eat.
There can be as many as 8 girls in one room and they are often used for sex in any way the client sees fit. They have no freedom of choice. They are simply told where and when to meet the client. They share the rent for the room and assist each other in any way they can. Girls as young as 13 and 14 may find themselves pregnant and needing to not only provide for themselves, but for their babies as well.

What we do at Cody Rescue Centre for Teen Mothers?
Cody Rescue Centre was established to provide comprehensive support for pregnant teens and young mothers who face immense challenges, including poverty and social isolation, with limited programs available to assist them. Our mission is to ensure that every young mother and her child find a safe, supportive environment where they can thrive.
When a young mother comes to our Centre, we work to place her and her child into a loving, stable home as quickly as possible. During the pandemic, we welcomed many teen mothers and their babies, keeping them together and offering a safe shelter, healthy meals, medical care, and psychological support.
At Cody Rescue Centre, we empower these young women through a range of tailored services. Whether they choose to carry their pregnancies to term or are forced to make difficult decisions due to external pressures, we stand by them every step of the way.
For those who decide to have their babies, our programs are designed to help them develop the skills they need to thrive as parents and independent young adults.
At Cody Rescue Centre for Teen Mothers, we aim to prevent and correct the challenges these girls face. We work to equip 12-year-olds with skills to avoid a life of prostitution, while also supporting those already exploited by offering counseling and training to help them find alternative income sources. Many girls are abandoned when pregnant, left in hospitals or clinics, and we are here to provide them with the care they need.
Cissy was one of the girls who frequently attended our food relief outreaches in the city slums during the COVID-19 lockdown. Quiet and often keeping to herself, there was something about her that caught our attention—something that needed urgent care. After engaging with her, we discovered that Cissy was homeless and had been living on the streets for some time. Recognizing her vulnerability, we brought her into our shelter.
It was only later, through a conversation with the shelter cook, that we learned Cissy was six months pregnant. The pregnancy presented a unique challenge, especially as it involved a street uncle from a separate program. Cissy was hesitant to share her story but gradually opened up as she began to trust us.
We immediately took steps to ensure her safety, health, and well-being. Over the next several months, we provided comprehensive support, guiding her through the pregnancy and ensuring she had everything she needed. We stood by her side until she gave birth and fully recovered.
Today, Cissy and her son, Jason, are safe and have a place to call home. Cissy’s journey reminds us of the profound impact of timely care and compassion. We are grateful to have worked with her brother and reettled her fully
