EDUCATION FOR A NATION | CHILD SPONSORSHIP

SPONSORSHIP SAVES LIVES: EDUCATE A CHILD WITH US. From statistics to real-life stories, there is evidence that our sponsorship program gives children a strong opportunity to overcome poverty and reach their dreams!

Save Sunshine Shelter Kids uses a lifecycle approach in our educational programs that focuses on the needs of children at all stages of development: early childhood, basic education, adolescence, and youth. We are committed to seeing each child who is selected to receive a Save Sunshine Shelter Kids’ scholarship, graduate and receive their diploma.

OUR APPEAL IS TO RAISE $8200 Many of our children are unsponsored and keeping them all in school is a critical challenge every semester and we can only manage by raising $8200 to ensure every child attends school that term. We appeal to every single who can help us raise the following funds so that we can keep all our children in a school a term.

SUPPORT A TEEN MOTHER: TEEN AND WOMEN’S SHELTER + RESCUE

Briefly about the Teen mothers center. The teen mothers fondly referred to as the “Cody rescue center for teen mothers” was established in 2020 in Wakiso district, proximate to Kampala City. The Centre receives girls aged 12 to 17 rescued mainly from child prostitution while others are referred to the organization by the Probation Offices and the Uganda Police in around Kampala and Wakiso districts. The Centre is overseen by a Social worker and has since rescued and rehabilitated 26 street girls most of them formerly engaged in child prostitution sex trafficking and a rea often victims to early pregnancies.

HER WORTH IS PRICELESS

The most marginalized and hurting people in Uganda are women. Often abandoned or widowed, victims of HIV+ or sex trafficking—they are destitute fearing that their children will soon join the ranks of Africa’s countless orphans and teen mothers. We stand alongside our girls and help them regain confidence and find their inner strength to chase their dreams and build a bright future!

Often, girls in third-world countries are forced into marriage or hard labor jobs before the age of 13. We advocate for the young-women in our community, and work to create local dialogue on behalf of the girls living in our village.

OUR APPEAL IS TO RAISE $8000

Through our life-skills training program and residential care—young women who we call “treasures” learn to tailor, make uniforms, cook different foods for retail, and receive business start-up training! With these new skills young-women are able to earn a salary which will help support them upon graduation from Cody rescue center for teen mothers.

SUPPORT THE STREET KIDS DROP IN CENTRE

Every day, countless children on the streets
face extreme weather, danger, and judgment. They struggle to find a safe place to escape from the harsh realities of their environment, and for many, basic needs like privacy and shelter are far beyond reach. That’s why the Street Kids Drop-In Center is not just a building—it’s a sanctuary where these vulnerable children can find the protection, privacy, and support they desperately need. Our goal is simple: to provide these children with a space where they can heal, grow, and thrive away from the prying eyes and dangers of the streets.

A SAFE HAVEN AWAY FROM THE ELEMENTS

With our programs currently held outdoors, the children are exposed to relentless sunshine and heavy rains, often disrupting our ability to give them the full attention and care they deserve. The Drop-In Center will provide a permanent, secure space where they can find shelter from the elements, allowing us to run our programs consistently and effectively. No child should have to choose between participating in vital activities or being shielded from the weather. With your help, they won’t have to.

PRIVACY AND DIGNITY IN THEIR TIME OF NEED

For street children, privacy is a luxury they rarely experience. Whether it’s taking a shower or sharing their deepest emotional struggles, these children need a space where they can feel safe and free from judgment. The Drop-In Center will allow us to handle sensitive matters—whether it’s personal hygiene, counseling, or emotional support—in a private, protected environment. It will give these children the dignity they deserve, helping them to open up about their experiences and receive the care and guidance they need.

EMPOWERING SOCIAL WORKERS TO DO MORE

Our team of dedicated social workers faces tremendous challenges running programs outdoors. Without a safe, private space, it’s difficult for the children to fully open up, and outdoor settings limit the depth of the support we can provide. The Drop-In Center will give us the tools we need to engage with these children on a deeper level—offering not just physical shelter, but emotional and psychological refuge as well. This center will be a game changer in helping our social workers better connect with and support the children in their care.

SPACE FOR GROWTH, LEARNING, AND PLAY

Beyond shelter and privacy, the center will offer ample room for recreational activities, educational programs, and sports. These activities are crucial for the development of the children, helping them learn life skills, build confidence, and simply enjoy the freedom of being kids again. Without the constraints of outdoor conditions, we’ll be able to run a wider range of programs, empowering these children to participate fully in their own growth and transformation.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $7,500

In order to make this vision a reality, we need to raise $7,500 to cover rental costs and operational expenses for the center. Every dollar you contribute will bring us one step closer to providing the safety, privacy, and care these children so desperately need.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS, HELP US KEEP DEBORAH'S LIBRARY: A LIFELINE FOR CHILDREN IN DIRE COMMUNITIES

In many of the communities we serve, countless children are unable to attend school due to extreme poverty, forcing them to spend their days at home or on the streets. Without access to education or safe spaces, they often find themselves exposed to dangerous situations, resorting to harmful behaviors just to survive. That’s where Deborah’s Library comes in—a beacon of hope for these children. Since its founding on July 16, 2019, the library has evolved from a few pop-up reading corners into a vital center where children gather to learn, grow, and escape the hardships of their everyday lives.

FROM POP-UP LIBRARIES TO A FULL-TIME COMMUNITY HUB

We initially launched 35 pop-up libraries across different communities, creating a safe space for children to read and learn. The impact was immediate and far beyond what we had imagined. Mothers in the community, many of whom live in unimaginable circumstances, felt relief knowing their children were safe and engaged in positive activities while they worked. However, the pop-up libraries became more than just a place for evening reading sessions. Children began staying longer, eagerly learning to read and write, and we realized that a permanent, full-time space was desperately needed.

A SAFE HAVEN FOR LEARNING AND GROWTH

Deborah’s Library is more than just a place to read—it’s a refuge for children who would otherwise be left behind. Many of these children come from homes where sending them to school is not an option. Others who attend school struggle to stay enrolled due to the financial pressures their families face, leading to high dropout rates and increased risk of being drawn into life on the streets. The library gives these children a chance—a safe, structured environment where they can learn, read, and engage in uplifting activities that build their confidence and shape their futures. It acts as a small, informal school where children can come from morning to evening, learning valuable skills while staying off the streets.

OUR GOAL: $2,000 TO SUPPORT DEBORAH'S LIBRARY

We need your help to raise $2,000 to fully fund Deborah’s Library and keep it running as a community hub for children who have no other access to education. Your contribution will help us cover the costs of books, materials, and the operational expenses that keep this safe space open for the children who need it most.

Why Your Support Matters:

$25 provides books and learning materials for 5 children. $50 helps keep the library open for a week. $100 supports an entire month of programming for the children. By supporting Deborah’s Library, you’re giving children from the most dire communities an opportunity to escape the cycle of poverty through education. You’re helping them build a future filled with hope, progress, and opportunity.

Join us in empowering these children. Your donation will change lives.
